When I first discovered you I followed your artwork. I noticed you offered an online class but I just wasn’t interested. There was no way (in my mind) that such deep work could happen online…. but then I met you at Squam Art Workshops and instantly knew that anything you offered I wanted to be a part of! I was floored at how deep the experience was. Your videos are a huge part of that, Pixie. You are so grounded and genuine and wise in them. I love that you swat flies away, that you battle with the wind to light your sage~ it’s so f’ing real and adorable… Thank you for having the guts to be YOU! I also love that you step into a sister role as opposed to an “expert” role~ you teach us, but you also teach us to find our own way within the offerings. Super valuable. -Elke Glendenning

You are supremely awesome. And I am supremely grateful. It is times like this I wish I were a poet. Pixie, you have opened my eyes to a way of thinking I only heard whispered in the deepest parts of my soul but spent almost an entire lifetime telling to shut the hell up. I wish, only wish there were some way I could express or show you how much has changed in me, about me, with me, from this work.    -Latisha Guthrie

Pixie’s approach, to both art and spirit, is natural and simple, yet deep and holistic.

Who is this class for?

I felt like I was really ready to take your class, to explore my animal muse wildness and try something different. I think your open-ness and welcoming, nurturing spirit was instrumental in making this happen. For this, I thank you. I had never done a sage burning ritual before your class and last week I dried some sage and did a burning ritual in my apartment. I was trying to clear energy from the past- it’s an old space to me but becoming new and different. It was renewing and the smell reminded me of that mystical feeling of stepping into the cabin for the class-excitement, anticipation, and feeling a connection and rootedness to nature.  -Rani Shankar

Visual Quest is for spiritual people who want to give form to what they feel inside and around them. It teaches you how to apply what you feel to the canvas.

It’s also for creative people desiring to connect to the Spirit that lies inside of them and outside, enabling work with meaningful symbols, and a deeper connection to the artwork.

It’s for artists wishing to freshen and deepen their practice, and for non-artists who would like to explore the mediums in a non-competitive and supportive environment.

It is for deep-thinkers and deep-feelers exploring their inner terrain and wanting to gain more clarity about the strongest archetypes within them, and the personal symbols which represent them.

What’s most intriguing about this process is that you’re taking the trip down the rabbit-hole to find the treasure and messages within, gathering information from inside of you, about you, (which relates to what is universal in all of us), and bringing it into visual existence where it shapeshifts and teaches you at an even deeper level. I find that this process allows me to step aside and let the message of my work find it’s own way.

What to Expect
*To enjoy this class, simply be willing to see what is inside of you and make an attempt at interpreting it visually.

Sharing My Practice :: Honoring the Medicine
This class is a convergence of everything I know about spirit and art all rolled into one. Creative living and spiritual practice  represents all that’s mysterious, alive and juicy in every one of us. I’ve been painting for twenty-three years, and I’ve watched my practice become more reflective of my deep Self, and less of my ‘ideas’ about what would make a good painting. This freeing process is release, it’s color and spirit in motion, it’s a deep embrace of What Is, and an intentional honoring of life itself.

What is Shamanism?
Shamanism is the practice of utilizing ancient divining tools for the benefit of humankind and the Earth. It is thousands of years old, and is still being used by indigenous medicine people today. A traditional shaman “journeys” into other dimensions to obtain healing guidance for individuals who are unwell, and for directives for the tribe. A modern-day medicine person works with shamanic tools to retrieve insights about the Self, as Jung referred to it, or non-ego related, Universal consciousness.

In my shamanic practice, I discovered that the “other dimensions” (within and without) hold a hidden goldmine of inspiration, and purely authentic soul ephemera with which to create. My paintings reflect the themes, archetypes, and sub-personas that reside within me. Unsurprisingly, we share universal messages, which makes creating and sharing art a beautiful way to connect with one’s own and one another’s souls. In this course, you’ll discover what lies in the deep caverns of beautiful YOU and what might like to be shared from that sacred place.

What is a Vision Quest?
A vision quest is a traditional practice of being alone, sometimes in a wild place, and staying still there for a number of days, while fasting, in order to cleanse oneself and hear the messages that are trying to come through. Traditional native people would wait for messages, signs and symbols from Spirit, such as an unusual occurrence in the weather, a visit from a wild creature, obvious signals, or even voices which would indicate one’s path or purpose in life. One’s own relationship to Spirit is honored and affirmed in this process.

As creatives, and many of us spiritual creatives at that, we too, await the messages- the holy Muse, the inspiration download, the retention of the small bits which drive us to get to work. The vision quest you’re about to go on will take you into your relationship with the Source of Creation. It is personal and private for you, and it is your birthright to access to the messages.

A medicine person traditionally holds the sacred space while the questers go out into the wild. He or she makes prayers and offerings, and calls on the guides and spirits to become known to the questers. This is my job, which I honor in the tradition that I was taught.
